How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything

A few years ago, I came across the quote How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything; and my thinking was never the same.

 

What stuck out about this particular phrase, is that it helped me internally self-reflect about what was happening in my life, and what I could potentially do to turn things around.

 

It allowed me a new opportunity to focus on the only person I knew who could make that change – and that person was me.

In Business

 

 

At the time, I owned a website development business which serviced small to medium business owners. Although the money was good and the business was successful, I found a lot more satisfaction in teaching, coaching and mentoring friends of mine who owned their own businesses.

 

I knew as the phrase clearly states, “How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything”; that if I stayed in the same place doing the same thing day in and day out without taking action to serve my passion and purpose, I wouldn’t find internal happiness.

 

Shortly after I changed and re-wrote my goals, and The 5% Institute was born – my life has been a lot better ever since.

 

 

In Relationships

 

 

Reflecting on my relationship with my beautiful wife, I had to ask myself the question – was I turning up every day?

 

Was I being the best husband I could be?

 

What more could I do – even just the small things, to make our relationship better and foster an environment of appreciation?

 

Like anything, our relationship isn’t perfect. But that is completely OK.

 

The mindset behind the meaning of the quote reminds me on a daily basis to be the best husband, and now father I can be.

 

 

In Health

 

 

The quote has had a profound effect on my health. I train Muay Thai kickboxing three days a week, run at least 10 kilometres per week and make weight training a priority too.

 

Why?

 

Not to boast at all, but I do this because if I take shortcuts, or treat my health as something on the bottom of the importance scale, I’ll be letting myself and the others around me down.

 

When jogging and feeling tired, I just remind myself How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything.

 

It gets me over the edge each time, and reminds me that if I don’t put in the work – why should I expect anyone too?
